FirM Multi Zone IR Transport System

FirM is a multi zone ir transport system (38Khz) which can be connected to any intelligent HA controller such as Homevision or PC based controllers such as xPLHal and allows users to easily send ir signals to any of its 8 zones. It also has the ability to identify which zone a received signal came from . It connects to the host controller via I/O( 4 outputs and 3 inputs required + ir out)) and all connections including the transmitted ir are opto isolated . A prototype (addon) serial interface has been developed for devices which I/O control is not suitable.
The
FirM controller connects to the FirM Zone Receivers by way of cat5 cable . This is ideal were users have structured cat5 wiring in place , its just a matter of plugging the FirM Zone Receivers into a cat5 socket in each receiving room(zone) and patching to the correct zone back at the FirM controller which would be located in a central closet commonly known as Node 0.
Having the ability to identifying the receiving zone allows users to be able to control identical devices which are located in different zones . Each
FirM Zone Receiver has a blue led to indicate that its receiving ir and also a red led to indicate “Busy”. The Busy led is quite useful as it indicates to users in All zones that ir is being transmitted by someone and therefore not to send ir until the red led extinguishes.
The transmitted ir is available by way of a 3.5mm socket located at the rear of each
FirM Zone Receiver and also by way of a 3.5mm socket located at the FirM controller . So equipment can be located in any room that has a FirM Zone Receiver or at the central closet or both. All thats required is to plug in a FirM 4 way or 8 way ir Splitter and then use a stick on emitter for each piece of equipment thats required to be controlled by ir.
It must be noted that the
FirM Controller Does Not generate or decode the ir signal ,this must be done by the Host Controller.
